Maxweb Director, Liam Bailey, was invited to an exclusive event on 5th Feb 2013 at Goodison Park. The "Stand Together" meeting consisted of questions and answers with Everton and England international footballer Leon Osman, Yorkshire born Everton legend Ian Snowdin and ex-Everton assist manager and current head of the youth academy Alan Irvine.
The 2 hour long session, attended by no more than 40 fans, provided great insight into the career of 10 year Everton servant Leon Osman along with stories of old from Ian Snowdin and Alan Irvine.
One fan asked Leon,
"Who is the best and worst player you have played with during your career?"
After successfully avioding the "worst" player part of the question Leon went on to say that there have been many great players he has played with and each have their own attributes that made them great. Ex-Everton and Denmark international Thomas Gravesen was mentioned as being exceptional on the attack, Leighton Baines as being the "best left back in the country" and Steven Pienaar having immense skills. But Leons final answer was none of those but his long serving Everton team mate Tony Hibbert!
In addition to the conference with Leon, Ian and Alan there was another surprise – the FA Cup! Representatives from the Football Association had brought the real FA Cup to the event. The FA cup, in which Everton face Wigan Athletic this Saturday, is insured for no less than £1.5 million and is the second FA Cup of its kind and was brought in to replace the fragile original in 1992.
Maxweb would like to thank Everton FC and its partners for hosting a wonderful entertaining evening. Special thanks should also go to the FA for bringing along the FA Cup.
Best Wishes to Everton in Saturdays quarter final FA Cup clash with Wigan. COYB!
